An AI livery maker takes a written description, such as "white police car with blue and yellow battenburg panels and a gold star on the doors", and paints that design onto a vehicle's texture for you. For FiveM and GTA V cars, the AI livery generator does this directly on your vehicle's UV map, so the design lines up with the real panels, and you preview it on the 3D car before you export the texture.

The rest of this guide covers what you need before you start, how to write prompts that give usable results, how to fix what the AI gets wrong, and how to get the finished livery into a resource your server streams.

AI livery generator for FiveM on Rivo Tools

Which games this works for

Searches for an AI livery maker often mention ERLC or iRacing. Rivo's livery tools are built for GTA V vehicle models used on FiveM servers. They read GTA V vehicle files and export textures for those cars. If you are making liveries for Roblox games like ERLC or for iRacing, you need tools made for those platforms, because their car templates and file formats are different.

What you need before you start

  • The vehicle model you want to paint. This is the car's .yft from your vehicle resource's stream folder.

  • The vehicle's texture dictionary (.ytd) if you plan to put the livery inside it afterwards.

  • A clear idea of the look: base color, main graphics, text, logos and where they sit.

  • Permission to edit the car if it came from someone else. Only modify vehicles you made, bought with edit rights, or that are released for editing.

If you do not have a car as a GTA V model yet, the FBX to FiveM vehicle converter turns an FBX, GLB or glTF car into a drivable add-on vehicle with its textures and meta files. For singleplayer car mods you have the rights to use, the GTA 5 mod to FiveM converter sorts them into a server-ready resource.

Generate a livery with AI, step by step

  1. Open the AI livery generator and drop your vehicle model.

  2. Write a description of the livery. Be specific about colors, graphics and placement (tips below).

  3. Generate, then orbit the 3D car to check every side: hood, roof, doors, bumpers and rear.

  4. If the result is off, adjust your description and generate again. Change one thing at a time so you can tell what helped.

  5. When you are happy, export the livery texture.

How to write a good livery prompt

The AI paints what you describe, so vague prompts give vague liveries. Treat the prompt like a brief you would hand to a designer.

Include these details

  • Base color and finish: "gloss black base" or "matte white body".

  • Main graphic and where it goes: "red flame graphics from the front wheels back along the doors".

  • Accent colors: name two or three at most for a clean look.

  • Theme or style: "80s rally", "modern police", "taxi", "corporate fleet van".

  • Areas to keep plain: "roof left plain white" stops the AI filling every panel.

Example prompts

  • Police: "White base, blue and yellow battenburg checks along the lower doors and rear quarters, black hood, gold star on the front doors, roof plain white."

  • Racing: "Dark blue base, two thin white racing stripes over the hood and roof, orange side accents, number panel on each door."

  • Fleet: "Silver base, green swoosh along the lower sides, plain rear bumper, clean corporate look."

  • Street: "Matte grey base, neon pink and teal geometric shapes on the doors and rear quarters."

Exact text, real logos and precise department wording are the parts AI handles least reliably. Generate the overall design with AI, then add precise text and logos by hand in the next step.

Refine the result by hand

An AI livery is a strong starting point, not always the final file. These tools help you finish it:

Install the livery on your FiveM server

How a livery is applied depends on how the car was built. Most add-on vehicles take liveries in one of two ways: as textures inside the vehicle's .ytd that the model references, or as livery parts registered in a modkit in carcols.meta. Check how your car's existing liveries work before you change anything.

Texture liveries in the .ytd

  1. Find the livery texture in the car's .ytd that you want to replace.

  2. Open the .ytd in the YTD texture editor and replace that texture with your export. Keep the same texture name so the model still finds it. Textures you do not touch are copied through byte for byte.

  3. Download the edited .ytd and put it back in the resource's stream folder, replacing the old one.

Modkit liveries in carcols.meta

If the car uses modkit livery slots, the vehicle modkit generator builds the carcols.meta modkit and the carvariations.meta that binds it to the car from your part list. If several vehicle packs claim the same modkit id, the carcols ID fixer finds and renumbers the clashes.

Check the resource layout

A typical add-on vehicle resource looks like this:

mycar/
  fxmanifest.lua
  data/
    vehicles.meta
    carvariations.meta
    carcols.meta
    handling.meta
  stream/
    mycar.yft
    mycar_hi.yft
    mycar.ytd

The fxmanifest.lua declares the meta files so the game loads them:

fx_version 'cerulean'
game 'gta5'

files {
  'data/vehicles.meta',
  'data/carvariations.meta',
  'data/carcols.meta',
  'data/handling.meta'
}

data_file 'HANDLING_FILE' 'data/handling.meta'
data_file 'VEHICLE_METADATA_FILE' 'data/vehicles.meta'
data_file 'CARCOLS_FILE' 'data/carcols.meta'
data_file 'VEHICLE_VARIATION_FILE' 'data/carvariations.meta'

If you are not sure your manifest is right, the fxmanifest.lua checker compares it against the real files in the folder. Then ensure the resource in server.cfg and restart it.

ensure mycar

Test it in game

Spawn the car and switch liveries with your mod shop or vehicle menu. For a quick client-side test, the SetVehicleLivery and GetVehicleLiveryCount natives let you cycle through texture liveries. The FiveM native reference documents both.

local veh = GetVehiclePedIsIn(PlayerPedId(), false)
print('Liveries: ' .. GetVehicleLiveryCount(veh))
SetVehicleLivery(veh, 0)

Common problems and fixes

  • Livery does not show: the texture name in the .ytd changed, or the edited .ytd was not copied into the stream folder. Restore the original texture name.

  • Design looks stretched or cut off: some panels share or mirror UV space. Check the car from every angle in the 3D preview and regenerate or fix by hand.

  • Textures go blurry or vanish on the server: the .ytd may be too large. The FiveM texture optimizer caps oversized textures by dropping mip levels, and the server load checker shows which resources are heaviest.

  • Car will not spawn after edits: run its meta files through the vehicle meta checker.

  • Two cars show the same livery: two resources may stream files with the same name. The asset conflict finder lists them.

Preview and show off the finished car

Before release, try paint colors and finishes alongside your livery in the vehicle paint preview. If you sell or showcase vehicles, vehicle showcase images renders a branded six-shot pack for Tebex and Discord.

To see examples and more detail on how the AI paints onto the UV map, read the AI livery generator overview, then drop in your car and write your first prompt.
